We've got a walker!

I'm making it official...Holden is walking! I should have put a poll up to see how many people thought he'd walk first. I think several people, including my dad and mom, thought Henry would, since he's "older" and he crawled first. I think being bigger and taller gave Holden the advantage! My brother said he had a dream that Holden walked first, so I guess I should trust his dreams in the future...

Last Thursday, Alex went to get the boys from my mom's and I ran next door for a second after I finished teaching. When I came back in the front door, Holden saw me and took 6 or 8 steps towards me! I couldn't believe it! I called my mom to see if he'd been walking all day and she just didn't tell me, and she said he hadn't. So then I had to get it on video, which took me a few days. But here's the proof! (And he likes to say, "wa, wa" when he walks because we always say "walk, walk" when he takes some steps. But at the end of the video he is not interested in walking more. :) 

So he's walking more and more, but still crawling a fair amount. It's so cute to watch. :) And Henry seems fine to stick with crawling, he can stand well on his own but never seems to want to venture to take a step. Hopefully I'll be posting about some of his first steps soon!

I think we can call it "official"

We have a crawler! :) Henry is on the move! And what does he crawl for/towards, you ask? Oh, an iPhone of course. Both boys were going for one yesterday when my friend Ashlyn was here, we just didn't get a good video. Holden doesn't seem to be as motivated to move as Henry. So we got a quick video tonight; luckily Aunt Lauren doesn't mind if her phone gets a little slobber on it! Go, Henry, go!

Easter: Part 3

Finally! It was Easter morning! I was so excited to see what the boys would think of their baskets. (They were with me and my mom when we bought the stuff for it, but hey, they don't remember that.) We got everything at Target. They got: a stuffed dinosaur, a Gerber puffs snack, 2 cloth blocks each (came in a pack of four and I had been eyeing them for a while) and a jiggly toy. I bought some eggs, but we didn't put anything in them this year. They'll be ready to go for next year! And of course we bought the baskets; I thought they were pretty cute. The bunny ears were from Target too, gotta love that dollar isle! :)

So I wanted a picture of each boy with their basket, and I was interested to see how they'd react, if they'd reach for stuff or be uninterested. But as soon as I set Holden down next to his basket, he went for it! He started grabbing the pinwheel and then the block. When we set Henry down next to him, he was looking at all Holden's stuff, until Alex showed him he had his own basket! My favorite series of pictures is when Henry gets out his cow toy, and then in the next picture Holden has grabbed it away, and then in the third picture, Henry steals it back! I'm sure this is only the beginning...let the brother rivalry/toy stealing officially begin! :) Then they decided to chew on the pinwheels, of course the only non-appropriate toy to mouthe, so we had to take those away. And in the last picture, Holden is practically inside the basket, like he's saying, wait, that's all? I think this means their first birthday and Christmas will be really fun this year, since they'll be much more interested in what they're getting!!

After all the excitement of the baskets, we put them down for a nap, they got up and ate their pears and cereal, took a bath, got dressed, got packed, and headed to the Amerman's! Whew! We had Easter dinner down there, and the boys had a good time. Their Aunt Liz and Grandpa Dave were happy to hold them and walk around with them. We took a walk during the afternoon, and got a few pictures with our bunny ears. Henry matched his grandpa; they were both wearing orange shirts and khaki! Cute. We had to fight them to get a nap in, but we finally got them to sleep for a bit, which was a good thing. Grandma Gina made them a sweet potato, and they split a whole one between the two of them! These boys like to eat, which you couldn't tell by looking at them because they're so little. Finally, right at the end of the day, we got a SUPER cute video of Henry laughing at his cousin Emma. She kept saying, "Oh Henry, you're so funny," and for some reason, he thought this was hilarious! She had to have said it ten times and he laughed after each one! :) So it was a busy and tiring weekend, but it was a great one! The boys should have great memories of their first Easter. (Ok, not exactly memories...but I took enough pictures that they can remember that way!)

Catch up/Week in review

I've been meaning to post for a while! I have lots of thoughts swirling in my brain right now, but for some reason, I've been too busy to post! (It couldn't be those two five month olds....could it?) So for now I'm just going to catch up on the last week!

President's Day, my friend and fellow music teacher from Avon, Stephanie, came to visit and finally meet the boys! It was really nice to catch up, and we even took the boys on a walk since it was such a nice day. I miss seeing her every day! Stephanie gets credit for the saying "Anyone can make it through an hour. It's just an hour." We always used to say that during our last hour of the day with kids....and now I find myself saying it as I count down the hours til Alex gets home! :) So I think of her when I tell myself you can do anything for an hour.

Tuesday mom came over to hang with us, Wednesday Evan and Phalo brought us lunch and took the boys for a walk, Thursday Alex stayed home from work sick, so I took the boys to my mom's. Dad appreciated this, as he was able to hold babies on his lunch break. The problem is that he can't say goodbye/leave them so his lunch break was roughly one and half hours.... :) Friday we had the world's largest playdate! No seriously! Nine moms and ten babies. The boys did pretty well; Holden rolled over on his own (but only once!) It's so fun to see all the older babies (the twins were the youngest there) play and crawl and eat real food and really explore. We got a few pictures of everyone on the couch, and it's pretty darn cute. We're trying to document them all together this little, so we can look back once they get older! I think it's pretty special to have friends you've known since birth, so hopefully we'll stay friends with some of these kids and get to grow up together. Friday night I took a cute little video of Holden laughing, since he was in a good mood, so I'll include that at the bottom!

Aunt Lauren came over on Saturday, and we made a quick trip to Babies R Us WITH the babies! (They'd never been. But they weren't all that impressed.) Every time I go to that store, I see other moms with twins. I swear, I need to take names and numbers and just form my own twin group! I'd love to talk to some other moms with twins close to this age. Laura and Jacob came over Saturday night, and we managed a trip to La Hacienda! Lucky me. :) The boys were good, but it's also a pretty noisy restaurant, so no one notices if they fuss anyway. Sunday I took the boys back to my parent's for the day, so that Alex could have uninterrupted time to work on the bathroom. The boys enjoyed this, as they are never put down at Grandma and Grandpa's! I managed a quick trip to Kohl's and Target, where I REALLY wanted to buy the boys some shoes. Yes, I know they don't need them...but they're such cute shoes, does it really matter? I resisted, but I don't think I can hold out for much longer. I made dinner for us, and then got the boys home in time for bed! (Bathroom update: still not complete, but making progress. I HOPE to have pictures of the completed bathroom soon....guess we'll see.)

So that was our week in review. Hopefully I'll have some time to blog about a few other things on my mind, but that'll depend on how much sleep I get over the next few days! Don't the boys understand that I need them to nap at the same time so that I can have some "mommy time"? Ha...

Ups and downs

Motherhood (and life in general, obviously) has its ups and downs...as I was able to see Friday and Saturday. I just have to remember next time I have a bad day that a good one is probably on the way!

Friday was a rough day. The boys were still cranky from getting four month shots. They've been fussy if I put them down, and it's hard to hold both of them and get anything else done! I was trying to get going in the morning after they'd woken all night (Henry at 2 am, Holden at 4 am, Henry at 6 am, Holden up at 8 am...) Alex was sweet enough to clean off my car because he knew I wanted to make it to my support group. I managed to get them both down, Henry in the swing, and Holden in our new jumperoo. I took a quick shower and came back to find that Holden had a poopsplosion...ALL over himself and his clothes. And as I'm trying to clean him up and scrub/spray his clothes (that of course have been worn one time and then pooped on), Henry is starting to fuss. I feed him for a few minutes and scramble around, trying to get all our stuff ready to leave and dry my hair and get them in the carseats and warm up the car. Of course, Henry is screaming from the carseat and I'm still racing around. I thought several times about giving up and staying home, but I do always feel better when I get out of the house and see people! I did make it to group, although I hadn't eaten and had left without a coat for me. (The boys were well bundled and wearing their cute animal hats! Need to get a picture of those.) My dad came over after group to hold Henry so I could eat lunch, and then after he left, Henry started fussing again. I saw then that HE had had a poopsplosion as well. Sigh. So after cleaning him up (and scrubbing another outfit in the sink), I decide he needs a bath. As I'm carrying him in the bathroom and about to put him in the tub, I realize he's peed on me as well!!! Let's just say this was a day I was counting the hours till daddy got home. :) I changed back in to my pajamas and watched the Ellen show with Holden, and after Alex got home, I took a nap!

Saturday was an awesome day! Alex fed the boys at 6:30 am for me, and I was able to stay in bed until 9. They still weren't up, so I was able to get up at a leisurely pace and even eat some oatmeal. Evan, Lauren and Phalo came over to hang out with and hold the boys, so Alex was able to get some things done around the house, and I was able to go shopping! I felt very productive, returning some things to Babies R Us, unexpectedly seeing some friends there with their adorable new baby, returning some things and buying some cute new shirts at Gymboree, and making a quick stop at the library. I got home and hung out with the boys for a bit until my parents arrived to babysit. Right before we left for dinner, I was rewarded with the cutest thing EVER, my dad making Holden laugh! Technology is so amazing...I was able to grab my mom's iphone and get a video. It's so special we get to remember that and share it with everyone! Then Alex and I got to catch up with four of our friends and have dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We got home, I fed the boys, and they went to bed. As I was talking with my friend Laura, I thought I heard the boys...and I thought I heard laughing!! As we walked in the nursery, Henry was laughing, either at his brother or the mobile. Again, SO CUTE! I guess they were just in really good moods yesterday. :) What a great Saturday!
