Thanksgiving 2012

Getting behind again...as it's almost Christmas! But we had a good Thanksgiving, so here are the pictures to prove it!

We drove down to Bloomington to Aunt Lesley's house. Aunt Stephanie and her boys drove up from Atlanta, so it was the whole crew and a full house! The boys wore their cute turkey shirts made by my friend Christie. I brought a fruit "turkey" as my contribution, which was popular with the kids, and Alex made an appetizer. I was hoping the boys would be up and at the table when we ate, but the timing was off. So they went down for their nap, and we got to eat dinner with the family! Mmmm...noodles and mashed potatoes, two kinds of fried turkey, and of course Grandma Gina's apple pies! Yum! The boys did great and had a fun time playing with cousins. Emma played her violin for them, which they all enjoyed, but we didn't get a good picture of. And then we have a few cousin pictures. (We always make an attempt, but it's hard to get that many kids to look at the camera and not cry! lol.)

Very popular fruit turkey! It did not survive very long. :)

I did some black Friday shopping by myself (woo!) Which was fun and got a few presents out of the way. Probably stood in line too long at Kohl's, but oh well! On Saturday we did Thanksgiving at my parents' house. Again, the boys missed the meal because they were napping, but they snacked on the leftovers. They seemed to like the cranberry sauce! Surprisingly they don't like mashed potatoes. Whose kids are these anyway??!! We were able to get a pretty decent family picture, and again the boys had a good day playing with family. Next year I'm sure they'll join us at the table and eat/throw food with us. :) Happy Thanksgiving 2012!

We've got a walker!

I'm making it official...Holden is walking! I should have put a poll up to see how many people thought he'd walk first. I think several people, including my dad and mom, thought Henry would, since he's "older" and he crawled first. I think being bigger and taller gave Holden the advantage! My brother said he had a dream that Holden walked first, so I guess I should trust his dreams in the future...

Last Thursday, Alex went to get the boys from my mom's and I ran next door for a second after I finished teaching. When I came back in the front door, Holden saw me and took 6 or 8 steps towards me! I couldn't believe it! I called my mom to see if he'd been walking all day and she just didn't tell me, and she said he hadn't. So then I had to get it on video, which took me a few days. But here's the proof! (And he likes to say, "wa, wa" when he walks because we always say "walk, walk" when he takes some steps. But at the end of the video he is not interested in walking more. :)

So he's walking more and more, but still crawling a fair amount. It's so cute to watch. :) And Henry seems fine to stick with crawling, he can stand well on his own but never seems to want to venture to take a step. Hopefully I'll be posting about some of his first steps soon!

13 Months and a few Randoms

I decided to keep going with the month pictures but be a little less formal with it. So we took a few 13 month  pictures in our pajamas. I'm trying to remember if anything new happened this month. They both like to say "shoes" and are fascinated by putting on shoes and socks. (We pretty much have to use shoes to keep socks on, otherwise they just pull them off.) Still no walking, although they can both stand well and cruise around the furniture. They've gotten a little pickier with eating and don't like all the foods they used to. And they've sort of reverted back to liking the food packets more. I'm ok with this since I hate feeding them with a spoon (they want to do it themselves so it gets everywhere!!) and they can do the pouches themselves. And at least I know they got a little something to eat.

October was a busy month, but very fun! Aunt Erica was in town for a weekend, so we got to see family and catch up a bit. Can't wait to see her again for her wedding!!! Alex and I also celebrated our 5th anniversary. Aunt Lauren and Uncle Evan babysat so we could go out to dinner. We tried to spend lots of time outside, and got in a few last walks and play times in the yard. I'm pretty sure by spring they'll want to be outside ALL the time. We also have a few box pictures...We had a box laying around for some reason and it became a favorite toy. It is really cute when they both climb in there together! They like to push it, climb on it, climb in it, and be pushed or pulled around in it. So don't be surprised when you see the battered looking box in our living room. :)

Halloween 2012

Oops, guess I'm getting behind again! Can't believe I'm getting this up so late. Here are some Halloween pictures with the boys dressed as puppies. I didn't get a lot of great ones, and I never got around to taking more of them in costume. They were still getting over a cold, and the evening was really cold out as well, so we didn't trick or treat very long.

We went to lunch with Aunt Lauren and Uncle Evan, then we stopped by both Grandma and Grandpa's work to say hi. After their nap, we went trick or treating with our neighbor Ashley, and her niece Ava. Ava was a super cute lady bug!! Like I said, we only went to a few houses because it was cold, and the boys were strapped in the wagon. Next year will be more fun when they can walk/run themselves from house to house!

Ashley got them a few treats, so in the last picture they are snacking. She got them some freeze dried strawberries, which Holden loved!! So that was our evening; it was fun, quick, and the boys had a super warm costume which ended up being a smart move this year. Happy Halloween!

Probably one of the best shots we got
