365 Project Week 5

Made it to Week 5! I was feeling a little uninspired this week; I had several ideas I wanted to try that didn't work. I brought my camera to the library hoping to get some cute ones but never even got it out. In the end though, I'm happy with how some of my pictures turned out. I've been playing with and exploring my camera more. I still take a picture then look at it and adjust then take 10 more, and sometimes still don't have a good one to show for it, but I know that's the only way to get better! I'm only sad if I miss a cute opportunity; today Holden was reading to himself, and I took two or three pictures trying to adjust, and he was up and gone before I could get a really good one. But I'm paying more attention to adjusting ISO and am trying to learn more about metering. So far I haven't done much with the white balance either, but I bet it will improve my shots when I try that. I tried my hand at creating a starburst effect, even though it's not exciting in that picture, now I know how to do it if I wanted to again!

And I couldn't help taking another one of my pretty flower, it's the only thing alive around here. I'm so over all the snow and rain and cold! I did venture outside on Monday while the boys were in school, and it was too cold to really walk around and explore. Day 28 we did some painting and I decided to try my hand at a little storyboard in Photoshop Elements. So proud of myself for getting less frustrated with using that program. :) Probably should have edited all the photos first since the lighting is different picture to picture, but oh well! Day 30 I had two pictures, one of the "I do it myself" moments that are happening more and more. (I have to build an extra 15 minutes in before we leave so they can do their own socks and shoes! It's cute but tough when they get frustrated and won't let me help!) And then I love the one of Holden playing with the camera! I've been so wanting to get one like that, but the lighting wasn't great. I included it anyway, and hopefully I can get another one like that sometime! My dog is an easy subject so I like practicing on her; she's easy to move around with a few treats. :) And last is a bit of a cheat since my husband took it. But how else am I supposed to get in a picture!? Happy birthday to me; the boys sang to me and helped blow out the candles! And any tips on candle/dark pictures would be appreciated, I'd love to get another similar one this week (or at least next time someone has a birthday...I guess my own might be tough). Another goal is to try and do some black and white pictures in the near future. Thanks for visiting and all the great encouragement, I love checking out and getting inspiration from everyone else's photo blogs.

I love having someone to ask questions to since I'm still learning! And I'm proud of us both for sticking with the 365 so far! :)

    1. Hi, thanks so much! It has been tougher than I thought but I also feel like I'm finally learning my camera by just making myself do it! So it's long past time for that. Thanks for visiting and nice to meet you! Will check out your blog. :)
